Not many people will admit it, but the best way to succeed in life and in business is to be selfish….
Let me explain.
The term selfish is mostly used to negatively describe someone and their lack of consideration for others, but when you are just getting started as a business owner or entrepreneur, you need to be selfish. In this new presentation that I shared during our Mastermind In Paradise, I explain why it’s a great idea to actually put you and your business first.

Thanks Russel for this.
I have realised over time that being selfish about my goals has got me to where I am.
Like not being distracted by women who really want to be in a Relationship with me.
I bluntly told them that I am not going to have time for them, because all my time will go into building my online business.
Yeah, I am being selfish, but then I am protecting them from heartbreak.
Thanks for this once again.
Maybe in many cases selfISH is equal to self WORTH?
wow this is tremendously true, i know i personally struggled with not wanting to show up online as an entrepreneur who is all out to get your money and will say anything just to get prospects to commit, i learned about the principle of compound interest today and it just kind of clicked that if i was going to be truely influential and be heard by the people i have been called to serve i’m going to have to keep creating and putting out those videos and over time my influence will compound and people will eventually start to listen… Thanks for adding an extra layer to this Russell 🤗🤗
Appreciate this Russel – We need to give ourselves permission to invest the effort to achieve greatness.
One of the biggest changes I’ve made this year is investing more into myself. Eating a healthy diet that before, I had deemed to be too expensive, paying for the expensive gym pass because it’s open 24 hours, and buying higher-quality items because they increase my effectiveness…
And today, I’m at my healthiest and most motivated to change the world.
That’s a great way to look at it!!
That’s when the game changes for us…
That’s amazing!!! Investing in yourself pays off 😉
@Russell Brunson – ClickFunnels what’s the old saying? Perception is reality even if it’s not reality in actuality! Great video brother, keep ’em comin.
That’s a great action plan to have, Adenaike! Go crush it 🙂
This is extremely powerful, especially the Michael Jordan reference really drove it home for me. Even though people didn’t like how intense he was in the beginning when he played, he ended up becoming arguably the greatest basketball player ever. I almost wonder if this is kind of relates to the saying “Nice guys finish last”? Because if you’re always just trying to make everyone like you by giving and giving instead of “selfishly” focusing on creating, you’re not going to make it as far as someone who focused on themselves and their business more at the beginning. You’re right though, definitely a difficult subject to talk about.
I really appreciate these videos
Russell I absolutely love this concept.
I have never felt like I was being selfish. But then again I have not achieved great things yet. How are you going to help another put their oxygen mask on when you haven’t put yours on? The answer to this question is a form of selfishness.
Deep Stuff Right There!!!
“The people your called to serve will reject you initially” Man, the first person I thought about was Jesus. He was here to serve us and we rejected him.
Don’t get married. Yeay 🙂
Amazing video Russell!!! Very exiting!
Today I’m going to start my first funnel and this information is so powerfull, thanks for sharing it!
Regards from Guatemala!
That is kind of a hard thing to wrap my mind around. I have thought about similar things before like going and doing service, I realized that it is kind of a selfish thing because I know I feel good when I serve. The way I have reconciled it in my mind is that yes I feel good when I serve others but it isn’t just for me. And I think that is what you are saying too. You are there to serve others but there is something in it for you as well and in a sense is selfish. If it is only for you and there is no benefit to others that is when I think selfishness is not good. Thanks for putting this out there and making me think!
Thank you for this great video Russell, I recently had this aha moment after I started my podcast.. I was expecting my guests to share the episodes and got butthurt when some of them didn’t.. but then I realized I am doing this for me first and foremost.. THEN the audience will come after that.
You must be selfish and have a big why. Only serving gives the clients power over your business. @Russell Brunson often talks about hating his early customers because he chose the wrong audience. That takes you out of your right mindset. If you serve only without selfish goals, a bad client takes you off you game, out of flow and you question should you even be doing this. Giving the client all the power leaves you open to hurt feelings, mental blocks and frustration. People that serve as people pleasers quit mentally upon rejection instead of saying next, they overanalyze what they did wrong.
This title has hoocked me and thing when you told that you are writing a NEW book 🙂
I loved the reference of Ayn Rand.
I like the idea of going towards your goal for your own reasons. But could you help add the humility or how to not be completely vain in our accomplishments?
Have all your books, have learned a lot, thank you.
Yea!!! That’s a great mindset to have 🙂
The selfish paradox
You can’t give what you don’t have.
But for you to be able to offer any value to the marketplace/community/world you must become a person of value.
And to become a person of value you must invest in yourSELF. And that’s why SELFishness comes in.
But in a good way because if you have all that knowledgeable and skill and you don’t use it to serve people then it’s all a waste.
Russell dont ask what they think ask what they know.2 brain hemisphers talk in left sing in right think in left know in right
I’m so stoked!!
